I got $100 from an unknown sender on Chime — is this a scam?
Yes. An unrecognized deposit on Chime is almost always a test transaction from a stolen card or account — scammers probe with small amounts to see which accounts accept money before running a bigger overpayment or “refund” script, or before asking you to send it back to a “wrong number.” Don't spend it and don't send it anywhere, even if a follow-up message asks nicely. Contact Chime support through the app to report the deposit, and expect it to be reversed once the real owner disputes it — if you've already spent it, you can end up owing Chime the balance.
