Is the call or text about student loan forgiveness real?
Almost always fake. Federal forgiveness changes are announced through the Department of Education and your loan servicer — never by robocall, text, or a “you've been approved, act now” message — and real federal programs never charge an application or “processing” fee. The caller's real goals are your FSA login, your Social Security number, or a monthly fee for paperwork that's free at studentaid.gov. Hang up, and check your status only at studentaid.gov or through the servicer named on your own statements — never through the caller's link.
