A brand DM'd me on Instagram offering a paid “brand ambassador” role if I pay a small registration fee — is it a scam?
Yes. Real brands don't cold-DM strangers with a paid ambassador offer, and no legitimate opportunity ever charges a “registration,” “kit,” or “starter” fee to get started — that fee is the entire point of the message. The account is usually a fresh or copied profile impersonating a real company, and after the fee lands there's no job and no further contact. Don't send money to any opportunity that reached you first — check for the role on the real brand's own careers page instead.
