The seller says eBay will hold my payment and ship the car — is it a scam?

Yes. eBay Motors does not warehouse cars, ship them, or hold payments in “escrow” — its buyer protection only covers purchases completed on eBay's own site, and these listings are always lured off-platform to a fake escrow page with official-looking invoices. The too-low price, the “free shipping included,” and the story about a deployment or a divorce are all part of the costume. Pay only through eBay's own checkout for a vehicle listed on eBay, and never wire money against an emailed invoice.

Is someone impersonating your brand?

The costume in these scams — a lookalike domain, a copied storefront, a spoofed sender — is exactly what the brand impersonation audit researches for your company: lookalike domains, typosquats, and copycat sites trading on your name, each with evidence and a risk rating, plus a ready-to-send takedown-request template.
